Boys in sixth through eighth grade may join the Sacred Heart Gators Football Team. Games are held weekly in the fall at Pensacola Catholic High School. A Championship game is played at the end of the season.
Girls in fifth through eighth grades may participate in volleyball. Volleyball takes place in the fall. Practices are held at Sacred Heart, with games taking place at Pensacola Catholic High School. A championship tournament for the 7th and 8th grade girls takes place at the end of the season.
Cheerleading is available to girls in the sixth through eighth grades. Practices take place at Sacred Heart. Cheerleaders cheer at pep rallies and at CYSL football games.
Basketball begins after fall sports have ended. The third and fourth grade students generally begin their season a couple of weeks before the older players. Basketball practices take place at Sacred Heart, with games taking place at either Pensacola Catholic High School or Redeemer Lutheran School on weekends. Seventh and eighth grade teams have the opportunity to participate in a championship tournament at the end of the season.
After basketball season ends, practice begins for the annual CYSL track meet. Track is open to students in third through eighth grades. Although events are broken up by grade-level and gender, the track meet allows the entire school to participate as a single team.
The Catholic Youth Sports League is intended to provide students in our schools and parish religious education programs the opportunity to participate in an elementary and middle school sports program that promotes values which are the foundation of our Catholic faith.
